Hidden In Plain Sight

Location: 1301 Broadway, Detroit, Michigan
Reception: Saturday, 5/18/2019, 7PM - 9PM
Duration: 5/14/2019 - 6/14/2019

"Hidden in Plain Sight" features eight Cranbrook Academy of Art Alumni, from 1970 - 2016, working in a wide range of media including fiber, ceramic, photography, and installation. The selected works come together through their complex layering of both materials and concepts. From masked or veiled imagery to interventions that obscure or alter the space, each artist constructs a type of perception filter - effecting the way in which we approach the work. In keeping with the spirit of the program to promote and support Cranbrook Alumni, these artists have demonstrated a vigorous dedication to their practice while inspiring the artistic communities around them. This exhibition invites us to see and discover the unique perspectives of the individuals behind the works on display.

Featured Alumni include:
Michael Andrews (Sculpture 2004)
Ebitenyefa Baralaye (Ceramics 2016)
Jetshri Bhadviya (Photography 2015)

Urban Jupena (Fiber 1970)
Jacque Liu (Ceramics 2002)
